Microsoft just released their newest AI-powered version of the search engine Bing, which employs OpenAI’s technology to respond to search inquiries with a thorough chatbot response, albeit only on a small scale.
On top of announcing the new upgrade, Bing’s official website also offered some sample chatbot inquiries and search requests for customers to use.
The chatbot, for instance, responded to a request for a vegetarian-friendly menu by recommending several plant-based foods for the various courses and providing links to the restaurants’ websites.
The Bing chatbot offers a menu in response to a question about a dinner party. To get alternative and even more in-depth answers to your concerns, you may chat and ask follow-up questions like, “Can you clarify it in simpler terms,” or, “Give me more options,” according to Bing.
However, interested individuals must join a queue in order to be approved before using the chat mode to connect with the chatbot further.
Microsoft has emphasized that the tool will be enhanced before it is made available to the general public and that the gradual approach was taken for ethical grounds.
According to the search engine’s website, “Bing attempts to avoid sharing unexpectedly offensive content in search results and has taken steps to prevent its chat features from engaging in potentially damaging themes,” unexpected results may nevertheless appear.
The creator of the chatbot ChatGPT, OpenAI, received a multi-billion dollar investment from Microsoft, while Google’s own conversational AI service, Bard, is also currently undergoing restricted testing.
