Can you tell us about yourself and explain why you are interested in working for EcoClaim Solutions?

I began my career as a contractor, which gave me valuable insights into the restoration industry. Over the years, I built a large restoration business focused on servicing insurance claims. My journey to sustainability started when I recognized the crucial role it would play in the future of our industry. This passion for sustainability compelled me to lead EcoClaim Solutions with a focus on innovative, eco-friendly practices. I am deeply committed to our mission and excited about the impact we can make together.

Can you describe your understanding of EcoClaim Solutions and our mission?

EcoClaim Solutions is a software-enabled change management system designed to help the insurance industry meet its emissions targets. Our platform functions as a three-sided marketplace, similar to an “Amazon for sustainability,” offering software solutions, training, and carbon offsets. We also provide insurance products that support and further sustainability goals. Our primary mission is to measure, manage, and reduce supply chain emissions, driving meaningful progress towards a sustainable future.

How do you keep abreast of the most recent laws and developments in environmentally friendly practices?

Learning something new is a constant. Maureen Cureton, our Vice-President of sustainability, is a leading authority in the field. She has contributed to the implementation of business sustainability strategies, taught at universities, and authored textbooks on sustainability such as Green Development: Integrating Ecology and Real Estate by Rocky Mountain Institute.

What techniques do you employ to successfully manage several projects and deadlines?

A series of high-level objectives are broken down into more manageable (monthly or quarterly) targets.

How do you tackle problem-solving when an unforeseen circumstance arises while working on a project?

We maintain solid control over the larger picture. The 50,000 foot is the most crucial factor. If you stay focused on this goal and modify your micro goals to get there, unforeseen problems will become less of a problem. You can find a workaround and reach your destination in a via a different path.

Can you share an experience where you had to convey complex technical information to a non-technical audience?

Every day! We engage with individuals who may not be familiar with emerging sustainability regulations. Often, we need to explain our product designed to address scope 3 emissions, even when they aren’t aware they have a problem. To facilitate understanding, we use standard business models to communicate concepts at a high level, allowing them to relate to the experience without getting overwhelmed by technical details. Additionally, we provide extensive training to our elearning software to bridge knowledge gaps, helping industry professionals become familiar with important topics like ESG and scope 3 emissions.
